The Small Grants Scheme was established to make provision for direct financial support to Alumni. Small Grants are provided for Alumni development groups’ development projects and for Alumni Associations’ continued professional development (CPD) activities.
In 2017 the Small Grants Scheme funded ten projects (two Continued Professional Development projects from Alumni Associations and eight Alumni group development projects to the total value of AUD100,000.
Each year, a minimum of one round of grant applications opens, and a call is made to registered Alumni Associations and on Africa Connect.
2018-2019 Small Grants
Round 3 (2018-2019) will provide funding to Alumni groups under the following two categories:
1) Development Projects of Alumni groups / Alumni Communities of Practice
Under this category, the Grant Scheme provides funding to assist groups of members or communities of practice to carry out activities that have a clear intended development benefit linked to the development objectives of their home country or region. The Small Grants will not be awarded to individual Alumni.
2) Continued Professional Development (CPD) activities of Alumni Associations
This category is aimed at assisting Alumni Associations to improve their benefit proposition to their members by offering opportunities for Continued Professional Development (CPD) activities. The grant funds a once-off professional development/training activity which benefits all Alumni Association members.
Applications for the next round of the Australia Awards – Africa Alumni Small Grants (Round 3 – 2019) open on 01 June 2018. The grants are for implementation in 2019.
All applications must be completed and submitted online by 31 July 2018, COB (17:00 – South Africa)
